This blepharoplasty (eyelid lift) patient from Pittsburgh is quite young, but she is already bothered by the heavy appearance above her eyes. In the past plastic surgeons would often remove too much fat from the upper eyelids. This was a serious mistake, particularly in the younger patient. If too much fat is removed in an effort to pursue a “sculpted” look the patient often appeared somewhat artificial after the surgery. Furthermore, over the following decades the patient lost more fat from around the eyes as a part of normal aging, resulting in recessed and hollow eyes. This can be avoided by being conservative and aiming for a natural result that will remain natural as the patient ages. This patient has had a upper eyelid blepharoplasty with a result that looks refreshed and natural today, and will remain so down the road.
