When Will My Botox Cosmetic Take Effect?

A very common question that we hear from our Botox Cosmetic and Dysport patients in Pittsburgh is “When will I notice a difference?” or “When will the injections begin to work?”. While dermal fillers such as Restylane have an immediate result, Botox Cosmetic and Dysport injections can take anywhere from 2 or 3 days up to 2 weeks for the full effect to be visible. The onset of Botox Cosmetic and Dysport can vary from patient to patient.  We have noted that Dysport begins to show an effect on your fine lines somewhat sooner than Botox Cosmetic.  For example, If a patient begins to see their lines starting to get better in about 8 days with Botox Cosmetic, the same patient might see improvement starting in around four days with Dysport.

Many of our patients combine the use of Botox or Dysport with dermal fillers such as Restylane or Juvederm to achieve their cosmetic goals.  At the time of your consultation, we will work with you to determine the best treatment plan for your patient-specific needs.
