Botox® Cosmetic And Dysport® For “Bunny Lines”
Have you ever noticed the crinkly horizontal lines that appear on both sides of the bridge of your nose when you smile or scrunch your nose? We like to call these particular wrinkles “bunny lines”! Bunny lines are caused by contraction of underlying muscles and are more prominent in certain individuals.
Fortunately, small amounts of Botox® Cosmetic and Dysport® can soften the appearance of these pesky lines with repeat injections every 3-4 months. Neurotoxins work by temporarily paralyzing specific muscles of the face. The goal of this treatment is to prevent patients from making certain facial expressions that can deepen lines and wrinkles overtime. For this reason, Botox® and Dysport® are used as preventative measures in many cases.
It is important to recognize that treating bunny lines is not always as effective as it is for other areas. The severity of the lines also plays a role in predicting the effectiveness. Botox® Cosmetic and Dysport® are most commonly known to successfully treat areas of the face such as the glabella (“11s”), forehead, and crows feet. Treatment may take up to 2 weeks to take effect.
If you are more concerned about deeper facial folds and creases such as smile lines, then dermal fillers may be the better option for you. We have an array of Restylane® family products and Juvederm® that can be used to fill in, shape, volumize, and contour targeted areas of the face. Hyaluronic acid fillers and Botox® may be used in combination to achieve the optimal results in some cases.
